Since 1988, I have been involved in some form of deck construction. Starting with a management company that was responsible for several units of old apartments, I was responsible for removal and reconstruction of several multi-level decks.

Pursuing a deeper knowledge in the art of deck construction, I studied for three years in Reno, Nevada with my father who is a master carpenter, where I learned some of the finer points of outdoor living construction.

Having the desire to start my own business and missing my family brought me back to western Washington where in 1991 I became Dr. Decks.

I started out with only myself and few tools, but I have always held to a high standard of quality. After several years of molding my individual style, I came to believe a small crew and personal attention to detail is more important than having several crews and losing the quality or workmanship. I also believe that hand selection of all materials is vital to a successful project as well as the artistic view of your outdoor living environment.
